We participate in many external benchmarks and indices. In 2021/22, these included:
MSCI-ESG
We rank as a ‘Leader’, having received the highest-possible ‘AAA’ score, which was achieved by only 3% of companies in the Retail – Consumer Discretionary sector.
ISS ESG
We achieved a ‘C+’ rating. This is supported by our ‘Prime’ status, which is given to companies that are perceived to be sustainability leaders in their industry.
Sustainalytics
We rank 1st out of 39 in home improvement retail and 2nd out of 453 in the wider retailing industry.
CDP Climate Change
CDP has recognised us for our leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change in its annual ‘A List’. We are one of a small number of companies that achieved an ‘A’, the highest possible rating, out of nearly 15,000 companies scored.
CDP Forests
The focus of our submission to the CDP Forests questionnaire is on timber. In 2021, we have maintained our management score of ‘B’, which is above the average retail performance of ‘C’.
Workforce Disclosure Initiative
We received a disclosure score of 71% which is ahead of the average consumer discretionary sector and average disclosure scores (all companies) of 68%.
FTSE4Good Index
We are listed in this index with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 (strong performance).
Forest 500 (Global Canopy Programme)
Identifies and ranks the most influential companies and institutions in the forest risk commodity supply chain. We ranked 8th out of 95 retailers with a score of 45%.
