Kingfisher has been awarded Business in the Community’s (BITC) prestigious Platinum Plus standard which recognises companies that are leading on the sustainability agenda.
Platinum Plus is awarded to companies that score most highly in the BITC Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index and also pass a further assessment which includes interviews with senior management.
The CR Index is the UK’s leading voluntary benchmark of CR and the results were published in the Financial Times Responsible Business Supplement on 8 June 2011. A small group of only 15 companies have been awarded Platinum Plus to date.
Kingfisher achieved a score of 97% in the BITC CR Index – up from 95% in the previous year’s survey. The BITC Platinum Plus feedback says: “Kingfisher has created a vision and strategy that is clearly articulated by the senior management team and convincingly describes an evolution in the company’s market positioning which will drive a number of environmental and social benefits.”
