Kingfisher continues to be the highest scoring retailer in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) - it is both leader of the general retailer sector and also the ‘super sector' leader for the retail sector. With only 20 super sector leaders globally, Kingfisher is therefore one of the highest rated companies in the world. The company's overall score in the 2009/10 assessment was 77% (well above the retail industry average of 47%).
Kingfisher has been a member of the DJSI since 2002. It has achieved significant improvements in its score over the years - from 28% in 2002 to 77% in 2009. Over the past year, the company has moved up from Silver to Gold Class standard.
The DJSI tracks the performance of sustainability leaders. The companies selected for inclusion in the DJSI are reviewed annually, following an assessment of their economic, environmental and social performance. The DJSI, launched in September 1999, is a partnership between Sustainable Asset Management (SAM) and Dow Jones Indexes. At present, 79 DJSI licenses are held by asset managers in 16 countries. Total assets under management in DJSI-based investment vehicles have now reached €4.8 bn. See www.sustainability-indexes.com.
