UK and Ireland
During the year ended 2 February 2013, B&Q UK & Ireland achieved sales of £4.3 billion from 358 stores.
B&Q aims to grow its share of home improvement expenditure by strengthening its appeal to the Do-it-For-Me (DFM) customer and the trade professional, alongside its heartland of DIY. B&Q has continued with its renewal programme, which includes updating product ranges, introducing more services and improving its store environments to ensure B&Q maximises the proportion of customers' home improvement spend.
Screwfix has grown to become the UK's largest direct and online supplier of trade tools, accessories and hardware products. It offers low prices and next day delivery guaranteed on 14,000 products. Total sales were £577 million in the year to 2 February 2013. Alongside the original catalogue and internet operations, there are now 275 stores, and a mobile ‘click, pay & collect’ service means customers can order a product for in-store collection within 5 minutes and accounts for 7% of total sales.
France
The combined Castorama and Brico Dépôt chains give Kingfisher the number one market position in the French DIY market. Kingfisher currently operates 103 Castorama stores and 104 Brico Dépôt stores, with total sales of £4.2 billion during the year ended 2 February 2013.
Castorama stores target the mainstream customer, offering a broad choice, low price and ideas inspiration. The stores are located in prime retail locations.
Brico Dépôt is a discount format which caters for the trade buyer and DIY enthusiast, with stores offering around 15,000 product lines and highly competitive prices. Stores tend to be located in out-of-town retail parks.
Other International
Kingfisher is a truly international business and has significant potential for future growth in Europe and Asia. Around 60% of Group sales are derived from outside the UK. Other International total sales were £2.1 billion in the year to 2 February 2013.
Through Castorama, Kingfisher has the leading home improvement brand in Poland and entered the Russian market in 2006. Brico Dépôt expanded into Spain in 2003.
Kingfisher's 50% joint venture, Koçtaş, is also the number one improvement retailer in Turkey.
In Germany Kingfisher has a 21% economic interest Hornbach.
