Investment in UK Youth at Screwfix

In 2011/12 Screwfix helped 1,232 16 to 24 year-olds find employment, either at one of its national network of over 225 trade counters or at its Somerset-based contact centre and head office. Over 55% of new Screwfix recruits in 2011 were aged 24 or under.

Jan Maggs, Head of Human Resources, at Screwfix, comments: "We believe that the 16 to 24 age group has a lot to offer to Screwfix and as a result we are committed to providing employment where we can, helping to nurture the available vocational talent in our sector."

One of the youngest Screwfix branch managers is just 20 years old and 70% of employees at the Basildon and Maidstone branches are under 24, reflecting the investment in training the business is making for its employees.

Profiles of two of Screwfix's talented team, Steven Greest and Zoe Thomas, are available in the People profiles section.
